The Challenge Academy Trust: 5x School Public Sector Decarbonisation Fund (PSDS) Project



Mantis Energy have worked closely with the The Challenge Academy Trust (TCAT) over the last 2 years to assist with the trusts overall net zero carbon strategy.

To date the following works have been carried out

Decarbonisation Work: 10x Heat Decarbonisation Plan were produced for TCAT to assess how public sector funding could be accessed to decarbonise a number schools

Intrusive Inspections Work: 5x Schools were selected from the initial decarbonisation work for further investigative work such as air pressure testing, cavity borescope inspections, roof sampling, utility upgrade quotations and detailed cost planning. Once the works were completed a comprehensive Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS) application was completed for the 5x schools

Mechanical & Electrical Design Work: After successfully receiving Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS) grant funding the project commenced and Mantis Energy became an integral part of the project design team. Our team started straight away on detailed design work of the existing heating distribution system, ground source heat pump plant room design and external borehole loop system. Construction tenders were then issued to all specialist contractors to select the best team to complete the works.
