Mantis successfully delivered a two-home PAS2035-compliant retrofit pilot across Greater Manchester. The project was delivered in partnership with Northwards Housing, showcasing Mantis ability to deliver full turnkey, multi-measure retrofit solutions.
This project demonstrates our capacity to provide whole house end-to-end turnkey retrofit services in partnership with Housing Associations.
Scope of Works
Working with Northwards Housing, Mantis Energy delivered the following works using the Procure Plus materials framework on the following multi measures:
- Installation of Air Source Heat Pump systems
- Deployment of Solar PV with Battery Storage
- Ventilation upgrades to improve indoor air quality
- Triple Glazed Window replacements to enhance airtightness and thermal performance
- Insulated external door replacement with triple glazing
- Fabric upgrades to internal elements and structure including vapour open suspended floor insulation, solid floor insulation, external wall insulation with thermal bridge free window design, pitched roof insulation details and loft insulation
- Installation of cavity wall insulation in external walls and party walls subject to borescope inspections
- Installation of Low Energy Lighting
All renewable technologies were installed by MCS-accredited and PAS2030:19-certified contractors, ensuring full compliance with PAS2035, TrustMark, and Building Regulations.

Services Provided
Mantis Energy undertook complete project responsibility, including:
- M&E design and fabric specification
- Management of all site preliminaries, logistics, scaffolding, and materials
- Oversight of snagging, making good, and quality assurance
- Provision of regular performance reports to the client
- Ongoing monitoring of install status and proactive identification of scope changes
This approach ensured delivery on time and within budget, while maintaining full compliance with PAS2035 and Building Regulations.

The project delivered immediate benefits for tenants by reducing bills and creating more comfortable living spaces, while also contributing to a greener, more sustainable community. For Northwards Housing, it provides a scalable model for retrofitting larger parts of their housing portfolio in line with net zero targets.
