The Walton Centre
Liverpool
Project
Mantis Energy had the opportunity to work with The Walton Centre to solve the question – How do you decarbonise a 20,000m2 hospital that operates 24/7, 365 days per year? As the leading spinal and brain injury centre in the UK the hospital cannot be closed down for in depth surveys or major works, This is a challenge Mantis Energy are working alongside the facilities management team at the Walton Centre to solve.
The Walton Centre is a large relatively new building and a part of the NHS public sector building stock all required to reach net zero by 2045. Taking the first step towards their Net Zero Carbon journey Mantis Energy were asked to create a heat decarbonisation plan (HDP) and roadmap to achieve net zero for the building. Detailed site surveys were conducted by our team to assess the current building fabric condition and mechanical & electrical systems which were then reviewed as part of the Heat Decarbonisation process. The findings were then presented to the team and next step design services and technical investigations have been proposed to develop the project further.
