At Mantis Energy we want more people to live in energy efficient, low running cost, future homes. We can only do this by helping more and more homeowners, architects and developers to build new and existing homes better.

The Energy Consultant will complete a variety of work activities within the company such as energy compliance, design activities and project management tasks. Some duties listed below may change as per the needs of the company.

You will be responsible for carrying out energy calculations, assessing building fabric and carrying out renewable energy feasibility strategies for a range of building types.

MAIN DUTIES (Duties may change as per needs of the company):

  • Undertaking heat loss and energy use studies based on architects’ drawings
  • Completing fabric, mechanical, electrical and renewable energy feasibility studies
  • Managing working relationships with architects and individual clients
  • Communicating with external specialist energy assessors (SBEM, PHPP, Air Pressure, Thermal Imaging, Damp Specialists, Borehole Inspections)
  • Providing reports and communicating findings with architects and clients

DETAILED DUTIES (Duties may change as per needs of the company):

  • Data gathering, reviewing CAD drawings and 3D models
  • Carrying out existing and newbuild energy calculations
  • Completing energy statements for newbuilding projects
  • Completing energy retrofit reports for existing buildings
  • Use of energy efficiency and renewable energy software
  • Organising various specialist energy surveys
  • Attending site surveys to document work progress and write reports
  • Assessing buildings for low carbon technologies (Solar PV, Heat Pumps, Batteries, EV Charging Stations, etc.)


  • Training Courses for technical accreditations provided (DEA, OCDEA, NDEA)
  • Various professional development training courses (CPD) and webinars
  • Opportunities to attend technical conferences / networking events



  • Sustainability or Engineering related degree
  • Full clean driving license (Ability to travel to sites)
  • Can review / edit CAD drawings and 3D models (Autodesk / Revit)
  • Knowledge of heat transfer & power generation and their applications
  • Experience with excel formulas and functions


  • Knowledge in energy use and carbon emissions in buildings
  • Knowledge in energy calculations and energy efficiency in buildings
  • Knowledge in renewable power generation and heating systems
  • Experience with advanced excel functions such as macros
